Social Media Breakfast Saskatoon (SMByxe) is starting a conversation about evolving the landscape of digital media marketing right here on the prairies.
Where’d Social Media Breakfast start?
Donna McTaggart of SMByyc inspired me to start building this community from her group in Calgary. However Social Media Breakfast (SMB) was started by founder, Bryan Person, back in 2007 when blogging was big and Twitter was a baby.
Today, SMBs are active in many major cities around the world. They chat about all sorts of topics tied to social media which have grown to include much more than hashtags and articles.
- are useful, applicable and inspiring.
- share the best and worst of social media.
- connect industries and organizations in Saskatoon and around the world.
SMByxe will hold monthly breakfasts open to everyone from expert marketing pros to folks wondering what Snapchat is about. No matter what, you can count on SMByxe to give you actionable takeaways, followed by opportunities to connect face-to-face with a new community of individuals. The goal is for all guests in the room that morning to build networks and strong relationships with other leaders and media professionals in the community.
How much is it?
There is no cost to attend SMByxe, but donations are encouraged with proceeds going to a new charity every month. Feel good about passing your money for coffee and a light breakfast on to local non-profit groups.
When is it?
SMByxe’s first event is set for Friday, April 7, 2017 at 8:30 AM at the Saskatoon Farmer’s Market. “Engagement is Hard Work” will feature a panel of non-profit leaders to discuss how they actively engage their communities online. You must register for the event in advance as space is limited. Panel features marketing and communications professionals from:
- Habitat for Humanity Saskatoon
- The Princess Shop
- United Way of Saskatoon
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saskatoon
Future SMByxe events will take place on the First Friday morning of every month. Sign up to the mailing list to be the first to know when tickets become available.
Be the first to know about the next SMByxe
SMByxe is looking to grow a group of volunteers, and it relies on the generosity of sponsors to bring you these monthly events. Every month we’ll need a new sponsor for our location, breakfast, AV management, and administration supplies.
